Hi, my name is Ron Holton. This brief description of how and why I started Holton's Lawn Care and why you should choose my company to take care of your lawn. I have spent most of my life in the construction industry doing all manner and aspects of construction from cutting trees for the power company to setting telephone poles, anchors, manholes, putting in fiber optic cable, pouring foundations, for the big signs on the interstate & putting the signs up too. Towards the end of that journey I started having to work out of town more and more working nights staying in motels. Trying to sleep in a motel in the day is hard to say the least. Ten days out four days home got old. So I thought I would try something different.

In 2004 I put in my 2 week notice. The first plan was to sell pine straw and produce at a local gas station. So I had to find a place that would let me do such a thing. After looking around for just the right place I decided on a Shell station near by. The next problem was to find pine straw, which turned out harder than I thought. It turns out that people that already sell pine straw won't tell you where they get it for fear that in the busy season (spring) that you will prevent them from getting all they need. Any way I eventually found a place in Eastman, GA. about 3 hours away. However now I go to Baxley about 4 hours away.

So, opening day finally came in early March 2004. We (my wife Robin and I) had our produce from the farmers market our little stand with a gazebo over it, some home made displays, and our pine straw trailer. It was Saturday and we wound up selling all the pine straw and 2 tomatoes. Well needless to say we ate a lot of produce the next couple of weeks. However we continued to sell all the pine straw I could get my hands on. It turned out there was a need to have the pine straw delivered. So I would leave Robin at the store and I would make deliveries. Then to my dismay there arose a need to spread the pine straw. So we sold and delivered on Saturday and Sunday and spread thru the week. This continued well into June when the straw sales slowed dramatically. So I thought I would mow a little grass. I had some signs made that said Holton's lawn Care on them and the home phone number. I put the signs on every corner I thought had a lot off traffic. I would see one missing and put one back in it's place until I found out that there was a sign cop taking them and that he could give you a ticket. So I began putting them out on Friday night and picking them up on Sunday night when the sign cop was off work. We also put out flyers. We got a few calls and few yards to mow. So with a lawn tractor, weedeater, and blower Holton's Lawn Care began. The company slogan was quality lawn maintenance at affordable prices. That has now changed to quality service you can trust. I found that a lot of hard work and paying attention to details was all that was needed to make an ugly yard pretty. Well Robin and I continued on into July when I discovered it was getting a little hot for Robin in the afternoon. You might wonder how I new this. It's because I kept having to take her home at 12.00.

Introducing Holton's Lawn Care's first employee, James. By the end of the year we had about 30 yards. We now have about 175 and 4 employees in peek season. Pine straw is and probably always will be a large part of the business. 2008 was a little tough because of the high gas prices during peek mowing season. However we still managed to grow a little bit. Our company offers contracts where the customer would have a monthly payment and every thing is included. Custom packages that include bush trimming, pine straw. pansies, fertilization, and weed control. These contracts are both six month and twelve month and are available but not required. We also offer pay as you go with weekly and biweekly service. All services include mowing, weadeating, edging, blowing off pavement, and maintaining the weeds in the flower beds. We offer various other services including but not limited to general clean up tree cutting, gutter cleaning, and leaf removal.

So now the future of Holton’s Lawn Care is on the webb.

The BEST Lawn Care Money Can Buy!

Holton's Lawn Care and Pine Straw is without question the best service I have ever used for maintaining the beauty and health of my lawn. I have a pretty big spread of 2 acres, with lots of edges and tricky corners and I have NEVER been disappointed in the attention to detail that Holton's brings each and every time they visit. My yard has never been better kept. I often come home to notice the smallest aspects of my landscape have been attended to: the porch has been blown off, the roses trimmed, the willow pruned. These are all things that other lawn companies would eagerly charge more for. Holton's strikes the perfect balance between family ownership/personalized service and highly professional service comparable to any larger corporate company. The owners of Holton's are genuine, caring people who will be there to answer questions and help out in any capacity with your lawn. I recommend Holton's with all my heart and will never use another company for my own lawn.
